Deputy Broward Appraisers to assist Margate residents with Homestead, Senior and other property tax exemptions January 3

From 10:30 am to noon on Monday January 3, 2011, Deputy Appraisers will be available to help Margate residents with property tax exemptions in person at Margate’s Northwest Focal Point Senior Center, 6009 NW 10 St. Margate 954-973-0300.
Qualified residents 65 years of age or older may also apply for the additional Senior Exemption at this time. Eligible seniors must have a total household adjusted gross income not to exceed $25,780 to qualify.

Documents required for the Senior Exemption include a 2010 income tax return or a copy of a 2010 Social Security 1099 Form, whichever applies.
Documents required to file a Homestead Exemption include:
A current Florida driver's license or Florida identification card, and
A current voter registration card or declaration of domicile
Non-US citizens must also provide proof of permanent residency.
Plenty of time remains to file for a 2011 Homestead Exemption, Widow/Widower Exemption, Disability Exemption, Portability or other property tax exemption, as completed applications are due by the September 19, 2011 deadline.
